Who are we?

Verity is an MMO gaming guild built around its members.

When Verity began over 5 years ago the guild concept and member ideal were already in mind from previous years of sampling different guild and clan flavors. We generally found that to be a successful "end game" guild the guild had to be large and you had to devote countless hours to the cause, usually with people you wouldn't normally associate with. On the other end we found that the friendly "family" guilds usually provided a warm and pleasant atmosphere, but did little in the way of progression. We wanted the best of both worlds: a guild teaming with skilled and mature players in a warm and fuzzy atmosphere...so Verity was born.

Leadership

Verity is guided by a guild council which is made up of the 2 guild leaders and the officers. Together the council designs and implements systems and procedures, reviews applications, interviews potential new members and decides outstanding issues as they arise. Officers are also responsible for maintaining member-only systems when they apply such as raid attendance, gem queues, raid combat stats and loot distribution.

In some guilds becoming an officer is simply gaining a new title, in Verity becoming an officer is much more. Our officers are chosen for, and bring with them, valuable skills both in-game and out. They've demonstrated their leadership skills and their concern for the guild's well-being. Our officers work with the guild leaders to devise fair and logical systems, and whenever possible, systems where each member determines his or her own outcome.

The Verity guild council is as follows:

  • Zandraya (aka Nettle), Guild Leader
  • Venge (aka Zathon), Guild Leader
  • Aiana, Officer
  • Berri (aka Razabble), Officer
  • Piddles (aka Opumb), Officer
  • Ronfar, Officer
  • Triandis, Officer
  • Wolffire, Officer

Membership

The average age of Verity's member base ranges from the mid-20s to the early 30s. Most work or go to school full time, and many have families or other real life responsibilities. Verity has also attracted a good number of couples, family members and RL friends. It might be of interest to some that geographically we're nearly evenly divided between the US and Canada. This provides us with plenty of conversation to add to our already lively discussions in both typed chat and Ventrilo.

To keep our guild environment desirable and drama-free we're careful when recruiting. We've never been about "spamming" guild invites just to assemble a mass of players; we're actually quite the opposite. Choosing quality members over quantity has been one of our core standards from the beginning.

Here are a few things we look for in new applicants wanting to become a part of our tight-knit family:

  • Maturity, maturity, maturity. We cannot stress this enough. This is NOT a jr. high/high school guild.
  • A sense of humor and a sense of loyalty.
  • The ability to think quickly and react accordingly depending on the situation.
  • Your gameplay time is balanced with real life responsibilities, you take the time to do well in school/at work.
  • You can communicate clearly and quickly.
  • Finally, we're looking for someone that chooses friendships over loot. We are not in it for the loot, but rather good times with our fellow guildies and the sense of accomplishment we get when we come together as a unit. If you're looking for a loot guild then you need not apply.

Guild History

Verity was originally formed as an Everquest II guild on August 23, 2003. We began with a member core of mostly Everquest players, and we became the second Everquest II guild ever created in-game. During our early EQ2 days we were a very structured and hardcore raiding guild on the Mistmoore server, but after many of us achieved level 40, and with the endgame in sight, we felt something was missing. Soon after we found ourselves immersed in World of Warcraft with multiple level 60 characters. Many of us either stopped playing WoW for a time or played other games, such as Guild Wars, until we decided to start fresh on the WoW Executus PvP server in May 2006.

While on Executus we spent some time raiding 20-main instances such as ZG and AQ20. Later, after the release of The Burning Crusade, we began raiding Karazhan in February 2007, and became one of the first few guilds on the server to down Curator. Verity established a 2-night per week raiding schedule which we maintained until shortly before defeating Kael'thas. Verity became a very well respected guild on the server. In March 2008, on a 12-hour per week raiding schedule, we became content complete when we won the battle against Illidan; only the 3rd Alliance guild on Executus to do so. The following month Verity made the decision to suspend raiding and give everyone a breather to enjoy real life and the spring weather.

Verity has been a casual guild for the past several years. Being a mature guild, in the sense of both age and maturity, most of us have full-time jobs, significant others and other real life obligations. By keeping things casual we find that more of us are able to keep up with the general pace and thus keep our in-game family intact. Our core has been gaming together for years, and that's the way we'd like to keep it.

Playtimes

Verity is officially an EST guild, however, there are no time zone restrictions. Please keep in mind that when Verity raids it's generally through the week around 7:30 PM.
