A Day After Release

Venge, Zan and Bodhi while hearthing

Verity's AoC in-game guild was established over the weekend and we're off to a great start in the first new MMORPG Verity has tried in years. The word in Vent last night was positive while we enjoyed the smooth release. Comments were heard such as "I'm really impressed!", "This is very well done...", "...the graphics are amazing...", "They've done an excellent job with the combat system...", "What the hell? I just got attacked in town..." and so on.

We won't go into all the game features because there's plenty to read up on at the many MMO gaming sites or even our own forums, but here are a few interesting things:

  • Melee fatalities do result in blood splashing on your screen. Although we haven't found a way to turn this option off yet, it may not be as bad as what you'd expect.
  • Looking for a good time? Since Niner hasn't yet established his ho-house, you do have another option; you can purchase companionship from an NPC pimp! That's right, spend a few tin and get a ho-ttie to hang on your arm and make you look like...you just spent a few tin.
  • Aaaaarrrrrr! Beware of what lurks in the shadows, even in town!
  • There are two questing modes: Day and Night, which you can switch to back and forth whenever you want. Night mode is an instance bound to you where you perform your solo quests such as your class destiny quest. Day mode is when you're out in the general population and can group up with friends. In the image above you can see Venge, Zandraya and Bodhi questing together in a dungeon around level 15.
  • Sprinting is back!
  • Hard to please fashionistas will love the character model customization and armor detail even at the low levels. And yes, it appears the starting bikini is a random color and has nothing to do with the race or class you create.
Overall, the game world appears to be huge. Even the newb island is a huge place with plenty of solo and group quests to keep you busy until you finish your destiny quest and leave the island. You can do group quests with others after you reach the first newbie town at around level 5. The leveling early on goes quickly.

We've put together the beginning roster on the AoC forums so those curious can get an idea of who's already in-game, coming soon and what classes are being played. We'll try to keep it as updated as possible until we come up with a better roster solution.

Remember, we're on the Derketo server, so if you're planning to join us in the near future please send a /tell to Zandraya, Nettle, Venge, Rive, Piddles, Kaien or Wolffire and we'll get you invited to the guild.

We hope to see you soon!
