Verity's Keep in AoC

New screenshots of the keep in the AoC gallery!

It was a clear afternoon with the ceremony being led by Wolffire, Verity's first architect, shortly before he set the building of the new guild keep in motion. In attendance were other members who came to witness the historic event, some traveling long roads and across dangerous lands while others were not yet strong enough to travel the distance.

The list of materials for the keep was steep considering we're into release less than a week. Other materials that couldn't be harvested had to be purchased to the tune of 2 gold. Beforehand Wolffire, Kaia, Eclair, Skuld, Piddles and Nettle farmed for the raw materials, and many of these same people loaned the majority of their personal funds to the guild so the final building supplies could be purchased. A special thank you to Bodhi who loaned the guild half of the gold, and to Wolffire for calculating what was needed to build the keep and for collecting the donations.

The new keep is the heart of our city and must be the first building constructed. Once we harvest the resources and put together enough funds we'll be able to build our trading post. The trading post will provide us with our own auction house, bank and postal service (once they re-activate the traders).

Our city will not only become a place for us to meet, but the more we put into it the more we'll get out of it. The keep alone is said to give guild members a bonus to health, mana and/or stamina points. Each subsequent building can provide their own bonuses to the guild members in general, or for specific classes. An example would be for us to build a Thieves' Guild which would then boost the skills of our rogues such as an improvement to attack ratings or increased sneakiness. Buildings are upgradeable from tier 1 up to tier 3. Upgraded buildings will not only provide a boost to the benefits they provide, but they'll look better too! This post contains a list of additional buildings to give you a better idea of what's available to us.

From what we understand so far a guild city is going to take a tremendous amount of resources to maintain and expand, so we'll really need everyone to pitch in with their gathering skills and help us stockpile the raw materials we need. We've posted a guide to harvesting and a map of node locations on the forums. If you have questions about gathering please post on the forums or ask in guild chat. Some of us have a bit of experience in this area now.

How to Visit Our City

Getting to our city isn't too terribly difficult if you're at least in your mid-20's. If you're not comfortable going alone, ask around and see if anyone else is going to head over later and tag along. Below is one way you can get to our guild city construction site, but hopefully someone will discover a quicker way soon.

Directions to get there:
From Old Tarantia go out the East Gate and follow the path until you reach Wagoneer Mycus. Speak with him and take a stagecoach to the Wild Lands of Zelata.

Upon arriving in the Wild Lands, follow the road North out of Tesso and up to the Outcast Camp. As you first come to the Outcast Camp go to your left toward the water and follow the edge until you come to Avitus. Tell him you want to go to your guild city and he will teleport you right to our keep!

An important thing to note is that when you speak to Avitus he will give you an option to go to Poitain. This is the village where you can train your gathering skills at level 20. You may learn all of them and put them to use in both Poitain and Lackeish Plains. We've found both of these zones to be rich in resources, at least for now.

Obviously the city building is going to be an ongoing project requiring a true group effort from everyone. We're looking forward to watching the city grow and logging our progress along the way!

To Rive: Thank you for all your help; you made my first video creating experience fun! <3
